I think I did a little happy dance the day this book was announced! It’s so rare to get an authorized behind the scenes look at the British Royal Family. Angela Kelley is not just Queen Elizabeth’s dresser, she is now Her Majesty’s Personal Advisor and Curator and In-house Designer!
In this book we get a glimpse inside Kelly’s personal history and a behind the scenes look into some of the biggest events in The Queen’s calendar. I loved reading about all of the thought and care that goes in to each and every detail of the Queen’s looks. One of my all time favorite moments we’ve seen of Queen Elizabeth is from when she participated in the opening ceremony of the London Olympics. It was so fun to read what was happening behind the scenes to make that happen. Another one of my favorite anecdotes was the story of the Queen with her hands in her pockets.
I read most of this book in pieces here and there after I bought it. But last month I listened to it straight through on audio (narrated by Kelly herself) and it was fantastic! You can easily enjoy this book on audio or ebook, but definitely get your hands on the hardcopy at some point to enjoy all the pictures. The audio also doesn’t include some bonus sections that are in the book.
I was reading reviews online about this book and it was driving me crazy how many people said negatively that Angela Kelley brags about herself throughout the book; she is an amazingly accomplished woman and I loved reading about all she has achieved! She should be proud of all she has done!
