How to Walk Away by Katherine Center

How to Walk Away by Katherine Center Book Review.

In August I’d read so many books in a row that we’re just… meh. I was getting close to a slump and needing something with more substance. Browsing through audiobooks available from my library, I saw that How to Walk Away was available. I got totally and completely sucked into the story. It was so nice to be reading something that made me think and feel! This is one of those audiobooks that made me actually just want to stop and listen, not just listen to as I cleaned, cooked, etc. Its a beautiful story of finding inner strength, overcoming extreme difficulties and a love story that made me swoon. It’s low on steam and has lots of depth, which reminded me of my beloved Evvie Drake. I am extremely picky about audiobook narrators, but this one is done by Therese Plummer who is a favorite.  #idlewildreadsreviews

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 – I loved it and fully recommend it! This will, I’m sure, land on my favorite books of 2019 list. I loved it so much that I bought myself a copy, something I don’t do often when first borrowing from the library. I’m excited to deep dive into the rest of Katherine Center’s backlist now!

Romances with depth are now becoming a favorite genre. If I loved this book, Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes and One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid, what else would you recommend for me?

Summary from the publisher:

Margaret Jacobsen is just about to step into the bright future she’s worked for so hard and so long: a new dream job, a fiancé she adores, and the promise of a picture-perfect life just around the corner. Then, suddenly, on what should have been one of the happiest days of her life, everything she worked for is taken away in a brief, tumultuous moment.

In the hospital and forced to face the possibility that nothing will ever be the same again, Maggie must confront the unthinkable. First there is her fiancé, Chip, who wallows in self-pity while simultaneously expecting to be forgiven. Then, there’s her sister Kit, who shows up after pulling a three-year vanishing act. Finally, there’s Ian, her physical therapist, the one the nurses said was too tough for her. Ian, who won’t let her give in to her pity, and who sees her like no one has seen her before. Sometimes the last thing you want is the one thing you need. Sometimes we all need someone to catch us when we fall. And sometimes love can find us in the least likely place we would ever expect.
